Services:

Provides emergency rent assistance, assistance with security deposits and move-in assistance for low income households. Also provides first-time homebuyer’s workshops, foreclosure education and counseling, and financial literacy/ credit education. Services are in English and in Spanish. All of these programs are dependent upon available funds.

The Housing Authority administers a variety of affordable housing programs, including the Housing Choice Voucher (formally Section 8), for low income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities. Call or visit the website to find out when applications are being taken.

Offers affordable apartments for rent in Monterey, Carmel, Marina, Salinas, Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield, King City and Watsonville. Waiting periods of 1-3 years for apartments. Chispa also provides home ownership opportunities for very low and moderate income families.

Services:

Families eligible for CalWorks may receive helps ith the cost of a motel and a deposit or an apartment. Program offers 16 consecutive days of temporary assistance in a motel. A once-in-a-lifetime benefit. Apply at DSS offices in Salinas, King City and Seaside.
